Should The Living Room Be Kept As A Play Free Zone For The Kids?
Bob-Wolff, 2006-11-12 04:40:24
How might i include my kids in the adult areas of the home without letting these social spaces become a play room. Should the living room be play free? Where do you draw the line and how much do you take your kids into account when decorating your home? I am redesigning my house and have many things i need to consider. If you have any personal experence and wouldn't mind sharing it i would be greatful. Thank you -w

- maybe what you should do is make a playroom for your kids and if you cant do that you could put up a gate around half of the living room for your kids to play so while the adults are talking on one side of the living room your kids are playing with thier toys on the other side of your living room.
- hope it helps good luck

- Dear Will, when you have small kids you have to adjust the whole flat.
- The living room is important but the place has to be child friendly: kitchen and bathroom might be particularly dangerous for children.
- Small parts have to be taken care of, fragile items need to be removed.
- Careful to corners and sharp objects.

Rules are okay, afterall, you have to live there too. Good luck!you need your space as well and kids need clear guidelines so dont give an inch on this one im sick of seeing parents i no laying down the law on a subject and then giveing in caus the kid screame about it then loosing there temper as soon as the kids do wha theyv gotten away with allready children lern to walk from watching us talk from listening and enevitably how to behave from the behaviour they see so be unrelenting on the rools you set or theyl always argue your decissions Just remember, that having a relationship with your children as they grow is what you really want to achieve. Hi W,I think you should make your home comfortable and welcoming to your children. They need space to play and the home is supplosed to be a place where all family members feel welcome, comfortable, and safe. When you have that, you have harmony in your home...something you can't buy at the furniture store.

The kids were only allowed in there to relax after their bath, before bed. This meant that we could relax once the kids were in bed, and the toys would be in another room.In this house it is more difficult as it is more open plan, but now the kids are a bit older they tend to keep their toys in their bedrooms.Hope that helps.
